Premier David Bartlett has issued a press release calling on Tasmanians to contribute to an Optic Fibre Roundtable, in order to seek new ideas and directions for future broadband opportunities.
Whilst the government is working through the timing for the Roundtable, the TECC encourages interested parties to start thinking about and sharing their ideas relating to the benefits of broadband for Tasmania.

Instead of only thinking how broadband can make Tasmania like every ither State and big city fortunate to have broadband services, lets start thinking about how we can make regional communities and families stronger. Key services, govt agencies and learning services should now make regiuonal life more viable on a range of fronts. I would like to see this explored and discussed.
Thanks
Richard

Basslink is an important breakthrough for those of us waiting for competition at a wholesale level. The sooner it becomes a reality the better. The roundtable should address all the business and creative opportunites we have previously lost to other States and regions.

As an attendee at the Premier's Optic Fibre Roundtable, I was very impressed by the contributions offered up by the attendees. It was good to hear positive discussions about how the State could expand on its optic fibre asset.
