TECC Research Fellow
The TECC has recently appointed Dr Phyl Willson to the new position of TECC Research Fellow.
Dr Phyl Willson (PhD, BIS (Hons), Grad Dip (Sci), Grad Cert Pub Sect Mgt, Dip Proj Mgt), will be co-located within the School of Computing and Information Systems at the University of Tasmania. Phyl is currently undertaking research with the TECC in the areas of high speed broadband technology and innovation. Phyl was recently selected to present at the 20th Australasian Conference on Information Systems, held in Melbourne. Her co-authored paper looked at Evaluating the Economic and Social Impact of NBN. TECC CEO Mr John McCann welcomed Phyl’s appointment.
“This appointment is an important step for the Tasmanian community, given the context of the debate surrounding the effects and potential of digitalisation. With the heightened debate surrounding the National Broadband Network debate in Australia, the deliberations by the State and Federal governments will be very important” said Mr McCann.
“The ability to understand and clarify the benefits of digitalisation will be of the utmost importance to the wider Tasmanian community.”
“The TECC looks forward to strengthening the existing relationship that exists between the University of Tasmania”, said Mr McCann. As a long time supporter of the University, the TECC is happy to be in position to help fund and have a co-location role to help the University and the School of Computing and Information Systems explore and engage with potential industry partners.
