Company Overview

The TECC was the first national project of the Networking the Nation Fund established in 1997. Since then it has been supported by two further rounds of funding from the Australian Government Department of Communications Information Technology and the Arts (DCITA).

The TECC has performed a range of activities since its establishment. This includes raising awareness and offering project support to traditional businesses for the uptake of electronic commerce and advanced information and computer technology (ICT) practices. The TECC also managed the $4.7M Business Development Fund (BDF) of the Launceston Broadband Project for some of the nation’s most innovative software and content developers. Through its activities, the TECC provides and supports activity for businesses considering, and adopting, electronic commerce across all areas of Australia.
The TECC has developed materials and programmes, which it has delivered nationally under the Australian Electronic Commerce Centre (AECC) brand. A recent project was the Demand Aggregation Manual and Regional Broadband forums funded by DCITA under the National Broadband Strategy.

The TECC is a key architect and driver of the nation’s most advanced FttH/TP trial.  This is the TasCOLT project with partners CEOS, HITACHI, Intel, Aurora and the Tasmanian Government. The project will deliver a trial ultra-fast broadband infrastructure, applications and services for up to 1000 users across three locations in Tasmania.

Since its establishment, the TECC has overseen the distribution of funding support and programme delivery and investment in excess of $35M. This has been funded by federal, state and private sector investment across the range of its activities.
