TECC Wins Prestigious National Broadband Award

The TECC has won the 2010 ATUG National Broadband Award for the Community Sector for the Hobart Wireless Waterfront Project. The Award was presented to the TECC CEO Mr John McCann by Senator Stephen Conroy, Minster for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy in Sydney. The full press release can be read here.

TECC CEO Mr John McCann (right of picture) who accepted the Award in Sydney, from Senator Stephen Conroy, Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy stressed the importance of the project.

“Under the banner of Wireless Tasmania, the Hobart Wireless Waterfront project is a real example of government/industry involvement in the installation and operation of a wireless broadband network for the benefit of the community and visitors to Hobart’s historic waterfront. The mix of traditional, industrial, cultural and creative sectors that form the commercial and institutional enterprises spread throughout the Hobart Waterfront precinct will provide a blueprint for the deployment of mixed function wireless broadband communities elsewhere in the state”.

The Australian Telecommunications Users Group (ATUG)  Awards are the oldest and most respected Awards for Australian Communications achievements. The Awards recognise the achievements of people and companies working to advance the use of communications services which are now so critical to business growth, competitiveness and efficiency.

$100 million equity injection into NBN Tasmania

nbn tasmania The Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, today announced the Rudd Government would make an equity injection of $100 million into NBN Tasmania, to facilitate Stage 3 of the roll out of fibre-to-the-home broadband in Tasmania. The Stage 3 rollout will allow fibre to be rolled out to premises in over 40 suburbs and regions across the State. The following NBN Tasmania brochure has the full listing of suburbs and regions.
