The Federal government has just launched a new website to help Australian businesses and communities take advantage of enhancing their online presence. The new site is located at www.digitalbusiness.gov.au

TECC Congratulates TASICT 2010 Award Winners

TECC CEO Mr John McCann congratulated the finalists and winners in this years TASICT Awards, held on Friday in Hobart. Mr McCann praised the efforts of  Ionata Web Systems, Solid Orange, Floating World, Secret Lab and Sentralize,  in being  honoured for their outstanding achievements amongst Tasmanian ICT businesses.

In the TASICT Award categories:

  • Insight4 were the recipients of the  TASICT 2010 Customer Success Story Award
  • Excellence in Digital Media or e-marketing: Secret Lab
  • Success in Exporting ICT Solutions: Secret Lab
  • President’s Award for Excellence (to the entrant who scores highest in the judging process): Co-winners Secret Lab (Paris Buttfield-Addison), Sentralize (Byron Teu).
  • Finalist –  Emerging ICT and Digital Futures – Solid Orange and Floating World
  • Finalist - Best inclusion of ICT in a not traditional ICT industry – Ionata Web Systems

“The TECC has also been active in the ICT development  sector through  its support of Ionata Web Systems, Solid Orange, Floating World and Secret lab via the TECC’s Software  Developer Application Zone around the Hobart Wireless Waterfront project and assisting Sentralize through early beta  product technology trials said Mr McCann.

“It has been a pleasure for the TECC to be assisting, supporting and working collaboratively with these firms and their staff” said Mr McCann.  “We are looking forward to the applications they are developing on behalf of the TECC for the Hobart Wireless Waterfront project, as well as any future opportunities that may arise in developing NBN capable applications, content and services, mobility applications that exploit the new bandwidth.”

“To be actively involved with such talented and dynamic software developers, demonstates the depth of talent within Tasmania  and highlights those firms that will play a vital role in creating new applications and services for the current National Broadband Network (NBN) roll out in Tasmania” said Mr McCann

NBN Opt Out Legislation

 The legislation  regarding the State government’s NBN  ”Opt Out” legislation  for compulsory NBN connections to homes in Tasmania was unanimously passed in the House of Assembly. The full press release can be read here.
